The 1st Data Jam Days were a great success. Thank you to all participants and see you soon!
Come work on interesting open datasets with experts from diverse backgrounds and build the best science together.
Participate in two days that will allow you to develop tools and theories that will help understand wildlife in Africa, waves in Antarctica, Wifi on Campus and much more!
And maybe find your future research partner there?
WHAT ARE THE DATA JAM DAYS?
To promote a culture of collaboration around data sharing and reuse, the Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) is organising the first Data Jam Days on EPFL campus! This event is for anyone interested in analysing, reusing, exploring, and visualizing scientific data. Come along! Data, food and drinks will be provided!
Open data can lower some of the barriers to productive collaborations. As science is struggling with a reproducibility crisis, EPFL wants to promote a culture of transparency in which researchers openly publish research reports together with the underlying data to allow scrutiny and reuse by others.
WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE
You love data and want to build something together with others? You want to contribute to a project and maybe find your future research partner? The Data Jam Days are designed for people to meet and exchange ideas on how to best analyse, interpret and visualise scientific data. We now have 6 interesting datasets that are ready for you to explore. Individuals from outside EPFL are particularly encouraged to apply in order to boost the diversity of profiles! We would like to ask every participants to invest two full days to make the event a success. Every participant is also required to foster diversity and collegiality by respecting others taking part in the Data Jam Days, as well as the infrastructures provided by EPFL.
Participants in the Data Jam Days will work with the SDSC platform RENGA during the event. In order to familiarize yourself with RENGA, we organise a workshop on EPFL campus the week before the event. Sign up below!
